As disease mechanisms are elucidated, pharmacists need to be able to offer "tailor-made care" , prescribing suitable medicines individually to each patient. Iryo Sosei University has adopted a new education system to foster talented persons with specialized pharmaceutical knowledge and reliable skills as pharmacists. This curriculum is the first of its kind in Japan, and by reducing the total number of subjects studied in a week, students can learn step by step from the basic stage to advanced stage, instead of the conventional curriculum of studying both basic and specialized subjects in parallel. With this well-balanced curriculum, students of the university are trained to become pharmacists who can play an active role in various medical fields such as hospitals/pharmacies involved in local care and who can widely contribute to society.
